People often practice self-care by sticking to a consistent skincare routine but some forget their lips.

Just like skin, your lips need a consistent routine to stay hydrated and healthy.

Not maintaining a healthy lip care routine may result in dry, chapped lips, which may not be great for your look.

Here’s how you can maintain a healthy lip care routine.

Clean your lips

The same way you wash your face before applying serums and moisturisers is the same way you should remove any products on your lips before applying a lip gloss or lip balm.

You can either use wet wipes or a face cloth to clean your lips.

Exfoliate

Removing dead skin from your lips is just as important. You can exfoliate with brown sugar mixed with lemon juice. You don’t have to exfoliate your lips every day, whenever you feel like they are rough, gently exfoliate them.

Moisturise

Dry lips are not cute. Make sure you moisturise with a lip balm, preferably one with SPF. If not, follow this step with an SPF of at least 15.

Avoid licking your lips

Don’t lick your lips because that will remove all the moisture your lips need to remain healthy.

Furthermore, under no circumstances should you peel your lips. If anything, drink water to avoid dry lips and always re-apply a lip balm when your lips start feeling dry.
