South Africa’s influenza season has officially begun — and it's off to its earliest start since 2010. The flu season kicked off the week of 24 March 2025, four weeks earlier than in 2024. Health authorities are urging the public to get vaccinated, particularly vulnerable groups including pregnant women, the elderly, people with chronic health conditions, and healthcare workers. The flu vaccine is available at public health clinics and through private providers.
