IN A BID to flee from five armed robbers during a home invasion, a Verulam woman jumped over her boundary wall in search of help.
Prem Balram, the head of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), said the home invasion occurred in Dawncrest on Wednesday afternoon.
"Members of Rusa were called out to the property at approximately 6.52pm after the female victim managed to jump over the boundary wall. On arrival, reaction officers established that when the family drove into the yard they were accosted by five armed suspects."
Balram said a male victim was pistol whipped and forced into the home.
"The female victim managed to flee over the boundary wall and contacted Rusa for assistance. The robbers ransacked the residence before they fled in an awaiting white Toyota. The make, model and registration are unknown."
He said the robbers stole cellphones and other valuables.
"An extensive search was conducted, but no arrests were made."
