South Africa’s Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) and OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) have made it into the Top 10 Best Airports in the World 2024 rankings.
According to AirHelp, CTIA is the second-best airport in the world while ORTIA ranked 6th on the list.
AirHelp said that it ranked 239 airports from 69 countries for this year and the scoring was derived from flights taken from May 1, last year, to April 30, this year.
“There are over 4,000 airports in our database, which we whittled down to 239, based on the busiest airports according to flight traffic, and most popular with air travellers. We aim to rank the world’s major airports, but it’s worth noting that some are excluded due to a lack of data,” said AirHelp.
It said airports were judged on three factors including on-time performance, customer opinion, and food and shops.
Both CTIA and ORTIA are managed by the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) and ACSA took to X, formerly Twitter, to congratulate the airports.
