CAPE TOWN – After the big reveals of new kits from Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City have released their new jerseys for the 2018/19 season.
The new Citizens jersey still boasts the blue colour throughout, with their sponsors’ name across the chest in a gold band, which is thinner and sleeker.
But the big difference comes in the trimmings around the neck and sleeves. Whereas the previous jersey had a thin gold line on the sleeves and a golden flat collar, that has now changed to a dark blue trim around the neck.
The gold trim is pushed out closer to the shoulders on each side, while the shoulders now also sport a dark blue patch all the way to the sleeves.
The edges of the sleeves have also changed, with a dark blue band sporting kit sponsor Umbro’s logo in gold.

Benni McCarthy’s City have been playing pre-season games, with the latest coming against Orlando Pirates at the weekend at Cape Town Stadium.
It is unclear if the away kit has changed, but City did play in a different-looking white jersey against Pirates compared to the one they wore last season.

Their first competitive match will come in the MTN8 cup competition next month, where they are set to face Maritzburg United, although everything would be up in the air if Ajax Cape Town manage to get a court interdict to delay the start of the official season due to the Tendai Ndoro saga.
