Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says he is confident that the club's new signing, Deano van Rooyen, will help the Buccaneers "a lot" as they seek to clinch the Betway Premiership this season.
The Buccaneers signed the 27-year-old Van Rooyen on a two-year deal from Stellenbosch FC after a standout season helping the Cape Winelands finish in third place in the premiership last season.
In an interview with SABC Sport, the Spanish tactician said the former Maroons defender was an experienced player in the league and knows what it takes to challenge for trophies.
Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says the club’s newly signed right-back and former Stellenbosch FC captain Deano van Rooyen brings quality and experience to the team.

"I think he is an experienced player in the league and at the fantastic age of 27 and he knows what it means to compete for trophies, already after an excellent job with Stellenbosch .
"So he is going to add fantastic value in defence and attack and hopefully we can see soon how capable he is.
“We are happy to welcome the new players because each and everyone has the capacity and the qualities to be here just wish him all the best like everybody else, I'm sure that he going to help us a lot this season,” Riveiro said.
While the Buccaneers have dominated the cup competitions under Riveiro, they have so far struggled to break the club's 11-year league title drought.
In the last two seasons, The Sea Robbers have finished in second place in the premiership behind Mamelodi Sundowns.
This season, Riveiro and his charges will be looking to clinch the league title.
Other notable signings from the Pirates include Angolan footballer Delvi Gilberto, Selaelo Rasebotja and Thuso Moleleki.
