He made the big move to Orlando a year ago, and it proved to be all worth it as Musa Nyatama was chosen as the Orlando Pirates Player of the Season on Thursday night.
The 30-year-old Nyatama – a former Bloemfontein Celtic stalwart – took home three titles at Pirates’ awards ceremony in Rivonia.
Apart from the big one of the best player at the Buccaneers, the midfielder also received the most votes from his teammates to clinch the Players’ Player of the Season.
He was popular among Pirates supporters as well, winning the Fans’ Player of the Season.
A special recognition was given to veteran defender Happy Jele, who was handed the Chairman’s Award for having spent 12 years at the club.
There was no surprise with the Goal of the Season either, with Augustine Mulenga’s thunderbolt against Bloemfontein Celtic chosen as the best strike.
In a season where Pirates ended second in the league behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns, goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands was noted for his efforts with the Golden Glove.
