DURBAN – Clinton Larsen has parted ways with Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Larsen has been in charge at Abafana Bes’thende for three years now.
Speaking with IOL Sport on Thursday, Larsen said he is in no rush to get a new job.
“We sat down with the chairlady and we discussed the way forward. We agreed that let us part ways amicably. It was a mutual agreement,” Larsen said.
“In terms of expectations, the team is not where it is supposed to be. It is not where I want it to be. I also felt that maybe the club needs someone with fresh ideas and a fresh approach.
“I’m in no rush to get a new job.”
Arrows are 11th on the log with 16 points after 15 games.
“I really enjoyed my stay at Arrows. It was great working with experienced players like Musa Bilankulu, Nkanyiso Mngwengwe, Siyanda Zwane and Lerato Lamola. They were all good professionals.
“I also enjoyed working with young boys like Conco (Siboniso) and Zolani Nkombelo. I finished twice in the top eight. I’m proud that in my career, I’ve never finished outside of the top eight when I have started the season.”
In the meantime, Mandla Ncikazi will take over the reigns until the club find a suitable replacement for the departing Larsen.
“I arrived alone and I have left alone. We discussed the way forward after the close of the first round.
“It is a good time – we are halfway into the season and it is a nice time for somebody else to steer the ship. Maybe the change of personnel will help the club.”
It remains to be seen where Larsen will surface. Maritzburg United recently fired Fadlu Davids, and they were considering Eric Tinkler, but some of the members of the board are not convinced about him.
Lamontville Golden Arrows would like to announce that we have parted ways with head Coach Clinton Larsen, by mutual agreement between both parties.

IOL Sport have also gathered that Steve Komphela might be an option for the Team of Choice. Komphela is currently in charge of Bloemfontein Celtic.
Abafana Bes’thende will open the second round with a very difficult encounter against Maritzburg United at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu in the KwaZulu-Natal derby.
Arrows got the better of the Team of Choice in the first game at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg back in August.
