CAPE TOWN – Not only will Kaizer Chiefs be without key striker Leonardo Castro for Tuesday’s clash against Free State Stars, but they are also worrying about a defender.

Castro went down in a heap during Amakhosi’s 4-1 Absa Premiership victory over Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

The tall Colombian tried to run it off, playing on despite Bernard Parker warming up.

But eventually Castro limped off after the half-hour mark, with Parker coming on when the score was 1-1.

And now the former Bafana Bafana striker should be the favourite to start against Stars at Goble Park in Bethlehem on Tuesday (7.30pm).

While Parker didn’t score, he set up Khama Billiat’s first goal with a wonderful cross from the right.

Chiefs confirmed on Monday that Castro won’t make the trip to the Free State, while Erick Mathoho is in doubt too.

“Castro is out with an ankle injury. Mathoho is nursing a groin injury. Molangoane is strengthening at the gym. We wish them all a speedy recovery.

“We will update you on their progress. Thank you for you patience,” the Amakhosi posted on their Twitter account.

But coach Giovanni Solinas will be confident that he has enough cover if Mathoho can’t play, with young defender Siyabonga Ngezana scoring the opening goal against City.
