CAPE TOWN - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Willard Katsande, believes it’s a matter of time before Kaizer Chiefs start winning regularly under new coach Giovanni Solinas.
The AmaKhosi are yet to win a game in the league this season, eking out a goalless draw against Maritzburg United in their most recent game. However, Katsande believes that Chiefs have not been as bad as their results and says a few corrections will see them return to winnings ways.
"I think I believe in the process. We are playing some good football in the last couple of games but we conceded soft goals," Katsande told Kickoff.com. "I think going forward we just need to work on our execution like the coach said. We just need to be more clinical in front of the goal.
"But all is not lost. We know that there's pressure out there, we just need to do good. We can only affect the future and whatever happened (against Maritzburg) we don't have power over it. The only thing we can affect is the future which is the next game.
"Now we need to go back to the drawing board and try and rectify one or two things. We managed to create a few chances, which is positive and a plus to us because if we were not getting there to the final third that was going to be a big mountain to climb. But we are getting there, and we just need the finesse, which is the final touch. But I think with time, processes, I think it'll come right."
Chiefs will be thankful for a reprieve from league action this weekend, when they face SuperSport United in the MTN8 semi-final first leg on Sunday (Kick-off at 3pm) at Lucas Moripe Stadium. Solinas’ only victory came in the quarter-finals of the tournament, where Chiefs beat Free State Stars 3-0 in their second competitive game of the season.
What an effort from the boys!!! Proud of this team!! It’s not the result we wanted, but we dug deep with 10 men 💙 @MaritzburgUtd
