With Kaizer Chiefs having made the bold call to get rid of Giovanni Solinas, who should take charge of the Amakhosi?

Stuart Baxter

Yes, he is the Bafana Bafana coach, but as we know in Mzansi, the clubs are regarded with more importance than the national team.

And it’s not exactly as if Baxter is been setting a high standard in his second Bafana stint, with qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations still in the balance.

South African need a point in an away fixture against Libya in March to qualify.

But there’s no doubt that Baxter is well-loved at Naturena, having won two league titles in his last tenure. He would be welcomed back with open arms from the bosses and fans alike.

Eric Tinkler

The former Cape Town City coach felt the inevitable sharp axe of Siviwe Mpengesi at Chippa United just this week.

But the Bafana Bafana hardman had good success at City, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, and his experience of handling the pressure at such a big club like the Buccaneers may give him the inside lane for the Chiefs job, especially if Baxter stays at Bafana.

Ruud Krol

The veteran Dutch mentor has already been linked to Chiefs, although he has subsequently denied that he has sent his CV to Naturena.

But having won the treble with Orlando Pirates, Krol’s name will always come up among the big clubs.

Since then, he has coached top clubs in North Africa, such as CS Sfaxien, Esperance and Club Africain, as well as the Tunisian national team.

So, that continental experience could be just what Chiefs are looking for during their Caf Confederation Cup campaign.

Luc Eymael

The Belgian was in the mix to join Chiefs after Komphela left, but it never happened for him, which saw him stay at Free State Stars.

Now he has been let go by Ea Lla Koto, and has taken up a stint in Egypt at Tala’ea El Gaish.

Patrice Carteron

The Frenchman has said that he turned down Kaizer Chiefs in June after Komphela’s departure, instead joining Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Carteron added that he was also made an offer to be part of the Mamelodi Sundowns technical team.

But he was fired by Al Ahly last month following the African Champions League final defeat to Esperance, as well as being knocked out of the Arab Champions League.
