Limpopo police have arrested two suspects, aged 30 and 25, for possession and selling nyaope, crystal-meth, and rock cocaine to University of Limpopo (UL) students at Gate 2 on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the arrests followed an intelligence-driven investigation.
Ledwaba said the suspects were arrested at separate locations in Mankweng, Majebas Kraal.
He said the men and women in blue received intelligence information about a male suspect selling drugs to university students around gate 02.
“Leads were thoroughly followed, which led to the arrest of the suspects at separate locations,” Ledwaba said.
He said the 30-year-old suspect was found in possession of 50 sachets, while the 25-year-old man was caught with 550 sachets of nyaope, 30 sachets of crystal-meth, and 35 pieces of rock cocaine drugs.
“The total value of all the drugs was estimated at R31,250,” Ledwaba said.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, Mahwelereng police in Mokopane arrested a 41-year-old woman on Saturday January 1, 2025, at Ga-Molekane Village.
“Upon searching the suspect's premises, police recovered six sachets of crystal-meth and 65 sachets of dagga were found in her possession,” Ledwaba said.
Later, the police arrested a 62-year-old woman in Armoed Village, where they recovered 245 sachets of dagga and about 5kg of dagga inside a plastic bag.
Ledwaba said the suspects are expected to appear in local magistrate's courts soon.
He added that the police investigations are still continuing.
