Port Elizabeth - Chevrolet has added two limited-edition models - on a common theme - to its passenger car line-up: the 'Black and White' Sonic and Spark models.

Since it's already in showrooms we'll start with the Sonic; based on the 1.6 LS five-door hatch, the new Sonic Black & White Edition is available as a limited run of just 200 examples, in either carbon black or pearl white, with side mirrors and the rear spoiler in contrasting orange, with special black 16" alloys and the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system as standard issue.

All of which costs R205 000 (R9300 more than the straight LS) and is covered by the same five-year or 120 000km warranty and roadside assistance plan, as well as a three-year or 60 000km service plan.

BRIGHT SPARK

The Spark Black & White Edition is based on the mid-range Spark 1.2 LS, finished in either black or white with contrasting black or white decals and extra chrome trim, special black 15" rims, grey upholstery with gloss black trim elements, sports pedals, stainless-steel sill plates and special side skirts.

Only 300 will be made, starting in September 2014; pricing has yet to be finalised but, with the standard LS at R149 800, a look at the specs will tell you that the Black and White package for the Spark is likely to be a little more pricey that that of the limited-edition Sonic, so don't look for much change from R160 000.
