Pretoria - Jaguar SA has released a package of updates for its XF medium-sized luxury sedan so comprehensive the best way we can describe it is using the makers' model code - MY14.5!
The most far-reaching upgrade (literally!) is what Jaguar calls Extended Navigation, which combines two separate mapping packages to provide unprecedented course-plotting capability, throughout South and Southern Africa.
The new system will take you straight to where you want to go, says the maker, thanks to exceptional intuitiveness and usability, as well as an array of features such as lane guidance and historical traffic information.
More new features include rear parking sensors for the luxury models and a rear parking camera for premium derivatives, plus a neat little boot-lid poiler (standard on the three-litre models and) and optional on the 2.2 diesel and two-litre variants.
DRESS UP YOUR XF
Start with a full aerodynamic package, which adds a revised front bumper, black grille with chrome surround, body-coloured rear valance and 'R' Style side sills. The Black Pack - available by itself or together with the Aero pack - adds gloss black side window surrounds, black grille and grille surround and a black boot-lid trim.
Then you can zhoozh up the cabin of the premium models the Sport Pack - heated and cooled front seats in soft grain leather, bright stainless-steel pedals and black morzine (an eye-catching fabric made from recycled plastic bottles) treatment for the headlining and the roof pillars.
Then there's a television tuner and a number of sound system and interior veneer options to choose from to make your XF exclusively yours.
There are eight models in the 2014½ XF range, with a choice of four engines: two turbodiesels (2.2-litre four-cylinder and three-litre V6), a 17kW two-litre turbopetrol four and a supercharged three-litre V6 rated for 250kW and 450Nm.
The flagships of the range are the 375kW V8 XFR and its badass sister the 405kW XFR-S.
