Geneva Motor Show - The Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE shows us where Volkswagen might be pointing its design compass for the next-generation CC 'four-door coupé', and perhaps in general.
VW says the concept is positioned "above" today's CC, suggesting that the firm wants to move its sedan-coupe entrant upmarket in future. According to VW, it also provides "a view of the new progressive Volkswagen design language."
Its large and distinctly shaped grille sets it apart from any of today's VWs and one has to wonder if this represents the future face of VW, or at least something similar.
The indulgently large concept car has a long bonnet and low-set C-pillar that flows seamlessly into the boot area, while a certain muscular presence is afforded by those 21-inch five-spoke wheels.
Under the bonnet is a plug-in hybrid drivetrain (hence the GTE designation) that mates a 278kW V6 turbopetrol engine to a pair of electric motors to give you the choice between enticing performance on the open road and astounding efficiency on shorter city routes.
