This is the first and, so far, only official picture of the facelifted Renault Twingo but, as teasers go, it's not bad - at least you can actually see the car, rather than just a silhouette in deep shadow.
The refreshed version of Renault's smallest model will make its public debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September, at which stage we can also expect details of engine and trim options.
Apparently the 2012 Twingo is an interim model to keep A-segment sales ticking over until it's replaced by an all-new, rear-wheel drive minicar that will share its platform with a future Smart four-seater (Say what? We seem to remember that Smart went this route once before and took a beating).
It is interesting, however, in that Renault says this is the first production car expressing the new design language embodied in concepts such as the Frendzy and R-Space MPV and, as such, it offers an insight into what the next-generation Clio and Megane could look like.
