Durban - Marshall Security were involved in the recovery of three VW Polo vehicles stolen from the Durban CBD, Florida Road in Windermere and in Phoenix within the span of a week.
Marshall Security managing director Tyron Powell said the third Polo was recovered on Friday.
He said that at approximately 9.30pm members of the special ops team were activated to assist Tracker SA with another VW Polo which had been stolen on Florida Road.
“After an extensive track by members of our special ops team, the SAPS Provincial Trio and Vehicle Task Team, the SAPS Phoenix Trio Crimes Unit and another private security company, the vehicle was found abandoned and recovered on a dirt road in the Ntuzuma area just after 22h00.”
Powell said the vehicle was taken to the Ntuzuma Police Station for further processing and investigating.
On Wednesday, The Mercury reported that a VW Polo was allegedly hijacked by two former teen pupils of a school in the Phoenix area.
Powell said Marshall teams were activated to assist Tracker SA with the recovery of a silver hijacked VW Polo just before 2.30pm.
Members of our Special Ops Team immediately responded to the last known location of the hijacked vehicle and the car was found abandoned together with other teams on a dirt road in the Amaoti area.
“It was later established that a teenager who is believed to be involved in the hijacking was arrested at the scene of the hijacking,” said Powell.
On Tuesday, Powell said a silver VW Polo was stolen in Durban Central area.
He said that just after 2.30pm the Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted via a WhatsApp crime group that a VW Polo had been stolen.
“Upon further investigation, it was established that the stolen vehicle was fitted with a tracking device and a short while later members of our Special Ops Team were activated to assist Cartrack with locating the said stolen vehicle.”
Powell said the car was recovered with fake number plates fitted on a dirt road in the Inanda area.
