One really does see the most bizarre things on TikTok especially if you’re into makeup or beauty.
This latest skincare trend is called “Morning Shed” and it has nothing to do with shedding your skin.
While it is seen as a form of skincare routine, the actual shedding comes the morning after you’ve slept with all the products on your face.
The actual skincare routine happens before you sleep and that entails a whole lot of products.
The products include anti-wrinkle patches, mouth tape, eye masks, overnight sheet masks even hair products and overnight hairstyling.
While it might not be unusual to sleep with some of these products on, it’s the process of the “morning shed” that looks rather bizarre.
Content creator Courtney Snell captions her viral video: “True beauty sleep” and adds “The uglier you go to sleep the prettier you wake up” in the overlay caption.

In her “morning shed” video you see her peeling off an eye mask, a face mask, mouth tape and a waistband. Then she lets down her perfectly curled hair from her bonnet as well.
What all the overnight treatments are meant to do is leave your skin looking fresh and glowing in the morning and your hair bouncy and ready for the day.
However, there is one flaw in Snell’s video and that is that she has lines on her face from the skin mask.
This her followers picked up immediately and quickly jumped into the comment section.
“The mask left lines? Isn’t that counter productive??” said one viewer.
Another wrote: “All the lines in my face would STRESS me out. Waking up looking 10 years older.”
Others were just as concerned about the mouth tape.
“I’d go into a full-blown panic after having my mouth taped for 30 seconds,” commented one person.
Another viewer said: “I would literally wake up and think I was kidnapped because I wouldn’t be able to open my mouth or see.”
