Disney Africa on Tuesday evening brought out Marvel Comics for the “Deadpool & Wolverine” special event screening at Eastgate Shopping Centre in Johannesburg.
Local South African celebrities Mpho Popps, Tsitsi Chiumya, Okay Wasabi, Sonia Tona, Thabo Rametsi, Chad Jones, Tino Chiyani, Supta, Donald, and many more walked the red and yellow carpet with other Marvel fans as they celebrated the highly anticipated cinema release.
Marvel fans turned the special event into a mini Comic Con making sure to dress in their favourite characters from the blockbuster. Guests were dressed according to team red and yellow, with red in honour of Deadpool being a firm favourite.
The event was filled with TikTok creators, who have gone viral enough to acquire the amount of followers that get one invited to events. Some of the creators invited looked as though they had never watched a Marvel movie before, making me wonder where they paid to attend the event.
Chiumya and Popps entertained guests while they engaged in the various “Deadpool & Wolverine” activations and inspired food.
“Deadpool & Wolverine”, stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.
The local special event screening comes after the world premiere of “Deadpool & Wolverine” in New York on Monday. Reynolds’ wife and fellow actor Blake Lively and her friend supermodel and TV personality Gigi Hadid were the talk of the evening because of their Deadpool and Wolverine-inspired outfits.
Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” delivers the ultimate, iconic, cinematic team-up throw down and debut in cinemas on July 24.
