The drama between Ashleigh Ogle and ex-Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies has been making headlines for a while now.
What started as a seemingly modern love story - complete with a social media "dating" announcement - quickly went south and not long after their loved-up posts, things took a dramatic turn.
By November 2023, their relationship had been completely wiped from Instagram. Not long after that, Ogle confirmed the split in a statement on X, saying: “I have endured things no woman deserves. I was deluded and chose to believe in him until numerous reliable sources brought information to my attention that could have implicated me.” She didn’t go into details but it was clear things ended on a bad note.
Ogle also reflected on the relationship, saying she should have seen the red flags from the start - one of them being Jantjies pursuing her despite still being married to Iva Ristic. Then came the police raid on his home in search of drugs.
According to Ogle, their short-lived romance was filled with turmoil and she has made allegations against him, including domestic abuse, substance misuse, and stalking—all in the span of just three months.
Despite his suspension from rugby after testing positive for banned substances, the 2019 World Cup winner has been getting praise from big names in sports and politics.
Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie recently publicly backed Jantjies, thanking him for his work with young rugby players.
Since stepping away from professional rugby, Jantjies has been offering one-on-one coaching to aspiring players. In a video he shared last week, McKenzie can be heard encouraging him, saying: “Forget the nay-sayers, there are always going to be those who are going to bring negativity, but you continue fighting, my brother. I’m here for you, I am behind you.”
Ogle, however, isn’t convinced. In a recent interview with "The South African," she responded to McKenzie’s praise, saying: “I 100% believe in forgiveness for one’s own peace but in my ex’s case, he has sadly not changed, and I truly hoped that after our situation, he would.”
The beauty influencer previously dated rapper Flvme and shares a baby with Lebo M’s former stepson Mthunzi "Shogun" Ngani.
