Cape Town - The South African Weather Service (Saws) and weather personnel have issued yet another firm precautionary warning regarding adverse weather conditions expected to grip the city, province and country over the coming weekend.
The weather conditions, which seem terse despite the country currently being in the middle of its winter season are expected to reach a peak this weekend with the arrival of yet another cold front.
However, unlike the other cold fronts Capetonians and residents living in the Western Cape have experienced to date, the incoming cold front is expected to make landfall not with flooding but with light showers and snow.
The cold front is expected to make landfall this Friday afternoon and last until Monday.
According to Saws, Cape Town residents will wake up to temperatures as low as 9 degrees Celsius over the weekend with a high of only 16 degrees.
The weather service platform also cautioned residents to note that due to the wind chill factor, temperatures may feel colder than the measured values.
Meanwhile, in an informative social media post, the Weather Girls on Tiktok, narrated how the cold front would make landfall on Friday after snowfall in the Western and Eastern Cape provinces.
In their TikTok video, the Weather Girls began by commenting on the arrival of the expected cold, which will sweep into the province from across the Atlantic Ocean on Friday, accompanied by widespread rain showers.
While also doing a review for the rest of the country the Weather Girls on their channel also echoed SAW's predictions about the steep drop in temperature. However, they added that the dropping temperatures would land low enough for snow to start falling over the Cedarberg mountains and Matroosberg mountains on Saturday and Sunday before spreading into the Eastern Cape.

Saws also issued a yellow level 2 warning for wind to be expected over the Western and Northern Cape from Friday morning around 10am until Saturday afternoon, July 8.
“Conditions may have adverse effects on small stock farming over the interior as well as difficulty in navigation along the coast,” Saws said.
